The next-generation iPad could boast a new body style: The Full Size iPad, according to a leading industry analyst, who also warns not to expect a Retina Display-enriched iPad mini just yet
The Full Size iPad, 9.7-inch iPad will boast a thinner and lighter 'body style' closer to the iPad mini, according to Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster.
The notorious Apple tipster says the company may wait until April to unleash a new version of the all-conquering slate, after revamping the current, 4th generation model back in October.
In a note to investors, Munster said: "We believe that looking at the history of time between Apple product launch events suggests that the company will introduce something new in March or April.
"We believe Apple could update the full-sized iPad to a body style similar to the iPad mini."
While most folks have been expecting the next iPad to take a few design clues from the 7.9-inch sibling, those same observers have also predicted that the Retina Display will also be passed down to the iPad mini when the next generation is announced.
While that may be on the table, Munster doesn't expect to happen immediately.
He added: "Additionally, we believe that the iPad Mini could get a Retina display, although that may happen later in the year given the supply constraints Apple faced on the Mini in the December quarter."
