The rumors were true: Samsung is debuting a mini version of its flagship Galaxy S III smartphone on Oct. 11. The new device, which will launch at a special event in Germany, has been confirmed by the head of Samsung Mobile Communications, JK Shin. Hardly a “mini,” though, the handset is actually a 4-inch version of the humongous 4.8-inch Galaxy S III.
“There’s a lot of demand for a 4-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini,’” Shin says.
No other details about the phone have been revealed, but the phrase “entry-level” likely means it will have a lower price tag and less stellar specifications than the Galaxy S III. The timing of the launch is interesting — only six days before Apple’s rumored iPad Mini announcement. If the Cupertino-based company, is debuting said device under the “mini” label, Samsung’s Galaxy S III Mini will definitely steal some of its thunder. (Mashable)
Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Price
While it's not as complex as one of the region's twisty crime dramas, the story surrounding the Galaxy S III Mini has taken another turn. Retailers in Europe's northernmost countries are now listing such a device with the codename GT-I8190 in blue and white, with or without an NFC chip, Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini Price for $540 and $560, respectively. Given that the company is planning an announcement about a "little sensation" on Thursday, it's certainly less likely that we'll see the Galaxy Ace III turn up. (Engadget)
The invites sent out today contain the line "So big can be small. And so small can be big." You might also have noticed the characteristic S series logo in the background, which narrows down the potential release candidates to a small Galaxy S device.
This is exciting news, especially for those that find the the Galaxy S III too large to handle. Be sure to check back with us on October 11, when we'll know what will come from this event (GSM Arena)
