Asus N56VM Specs brings Intel's third-generation Core “Ivy Bridge” processor to the laptop, and it's a beautiful thing. This 15.6 inch laptop display is looking to replace your desktop, and you're probably not going to complain about it one bit. This processor specs is the Core i7-3720QM: 2.6GHz quad-core, eight-thread processor featuring 6MB of cache.
With the advent of Intel's third-generation Core "Ivy Bridge" processors, we can hope to see price cuts and tempting discounts on systems with second-generation "Sandy Bridge" CPUs. That's too bad. Asus N56VM Features
Asus N56VM notebook can perform as one. Mostly it will be used for everyday web browsing, email etc. and photo/HD video editing. It handles my Sony a77 24MP images like they were 15yr old 500k GIFs LOL Instant. No waiting. Photoshop v7.0 opens up the fastest I've ever seen. I haven't yet installed Sony Vegas Pro 8 but I expect it to be quick too. A word on the graphics performance.
Not only does the N56VM offer Bluetooth and 802.11g Wi-Fi feature, it also supports Intel's Wireless Display (WiDi) which allows you to broadcast the audio and video from your laptop to an HDTV equipped with an adapter. Besides the software that powers the WiDi and other utilities, there was no other software or bloatware preloaded save for the OS.
The Asus N56VM features comes with a Blu-ray drive, two USB 3.0 ports, and headphone and microphone jacks on its right side, and an audio jack for a subwoofer, VGA, HDMI, and Eithernet ports, and two additional USB 3.0 ports on the left. The SD/MMC slot is in the front. In testing, the 56Wh battery lasted 5 hours 21 minutes.
The 3rd gen i7 Ivy bridge series now has an on-die Intel video chip included. So there are 2 graphics chips, this one and the 2Gb nVidia 650M. The Intel is used for run-of-the-mill performance applications and the 650M kicks in when needed. This is supposed to save battery power. Having not run any tests yet on that I can't comment. The battery is a 6 cell 5200mAh one.
